Artificial intelligence at work

In late November 2022, OpenAI launched ChatGPT, a large language model based on an autoregressive method called GPT-3. It is trained on vast amounts of text data from the internet and can generate human-like text. Such technology can be deployed in a variety of applications.

One use of ChatGPT is in Natural Language Processing (NLP) tasks. NLP is a field of Artificial Intelligence that makes human language intelligible to machines. The model can be assigned to various tasks, such as writing articles and essays, solving complex math problems, translating texts, coding in many programming languages, automating repetitive processes and much more.

Except the training on vast amounts of data from the internet, ChatGPT was also trained using human feedbacks in order to improve its performance. In one of the cases, the trainers ranked the responses of the model in a conversation, and then created reward models. Currently, the developers at OpenAI are using the data from interactions of existing users in order to improve the model.

As any technology has two sides, ChatGPT cannot be an exception. So far ChatGPT has been employed to create highly convincing phishing emails, generate text that is designed to manipulate people, spam messages, fake news and reviews.

The tool is free to use at the moment, however, the company sells the API on a subscription basis to organizations, while OpenAI is looking for options to monetize the tool.

Now let us ask you, was this article written by a human?
